MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper has resigned after three pedestrians were hit in Myrtle Beach.
The Department of Public Safety said Lance Cpl. Christopher Lee Bridges resigned after he had been suspended Sunday.
Bridges surrendered to Horry County Sheriff's deputies Monday and is charged with three counts of hit and run in an accident involving minor personal injuries.
Horry County Sgt. Jeff Benton says Bridges was in his personal vehicle when he struck three pedestrians early Sunday. Bridges checked on the pedestrians, called 911 and left the scene.
The victims were treated and released from Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Bridges had been with the patrol since 2007 and worked in Horry County.
It was not clear if he has a lawyer.
