The Highway Patrol made more than 20 driving and drug-related arrests over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend in York and Lancaster counties. (Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Clover, Lake Wylie).
From 9 p.m. Friday through 3 a.m. Saturday, the Highway Patrol and Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office paired up at four license checkpoints, said Lance Cpl. Billy Elder with the Highway Patrol.
Officers made two driving under the influence arrests, three drug arrests and two arrests for possession of alcohol by minors. They also issued six open container violations, he said.
In York County, a joint task force between the Highway Patrol, York County Sheriff’s Office and police in Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Tega Cay, York and Winthrop University resulted in 11 driving under the influence arrests.
At the checkpoint on S.C. 322 and S.C. 274 in York County from 11 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday, officers also had three drug arrests and two driving under suspension arrests as well as one open container violation.
