	<span class="dateline" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-family: inherit; vertical-align: baseline; text-transform: uppercase;">LANCASTER</span> — Two people are dead after car crashes on major highways in both Lancaster and Chester counties Monday evening, authorities say.</p>
<p style="margin: 20px 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 14.44444465637207px; font-family: Arial, Geneva, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 20px; max-width: 620px !important;">
	In Lancaster County at about 5:10 p.m., a Kershaw man, 62, driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup and wearing a seat belt was driving north on U.S. 601 when he veered to the left of the center lane and hit a 2004 International truck head-on, said Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly with the Highway Patrol.</p>
<p style="margin: 20px 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 14.44444465637207px; font-family: Arial, Geneva, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 20px; max-width: 620px !important;">
	The truck, driven by 34-year-old West Columbia man, then caught on fire, Kelly said.</p>
<p style="margin: 20px 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 14.44444465637207px; font-family: Arial, Geneva, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 20px; max-width: 620px !important;">
	The Kershaw man was pronounced dead on the scene, he said. It's unclear if truck driver was injured.</p>

	Both men were wearing seat belts, Kelly said. The pickup driver's identity was not immediately available Tuesday morning.</p>

	Hours later in Chester County, a pedestrian was hit by a car when he tried to cross S.C. 9.</p>

	At 11 p.m., authorities say a 41-year-old Lancaster man was hit by a 2003 Buick driven by a 47-year-old Richburg woman when he tried to walk across the highway, Kelly said. The man's name was not immediately available Tuesday morning.</p>
