 — A York woman died after her car ran off the left side of the road, hit a tree and went into an embankment in York Monday afternoon.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the deadly crash on Locust Hill Road off State Route 63, said Lance Cpl. Judd Jones.

Around 4 p.m., the 44-year-old woman was traveling west in her 1999 Honda on State Route 63 when she ran off the side of the road, slid into an embankment and struck a tree.

She was wearing a seat belt at the time, Jones said.

She was taken to Piedmont Medical Center where she was pronounced her dead.

Her name was not immediately available. Check back for more details.
