ROCK HILL --
A man traveling through York County was killed after the vehicle he was riding in veered off the right side of Interstate 77 and struck several trees, said Lance Cpl. Billy Elder with the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The victim died at the scene. No other information about him was available this afternoon.
The driver of the 2005 Mazda, Vincent A. Donofrio, 20, of Ohio, was heading north on I-77 near exit 73 when the accident occurred at 11:41 a.m., Elder said. It is unclear whether Donofrio or the passenger were searing seat belts.
Donofrio was transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Charlotte, Elder said. His condition was unknown this afternoon.
The crash closed the right lane of traffic on I-77.
